Rachel clapped her hands at the promise of food. “Thank god! Your children are hungry.” She rubbed her bump, seeing him roll his eyes a bit at her. She decided that if she was hungry or if in the future their daughters misbehaved, they were his children. “Alright. I want white furniture. The room we are using for them is sort of small, so white will make the room seem bigger. Plus, as you already know, I like bright rooms. It makes me happier.” She had repainted his room when she formally moved in, painting it a calming green color that made his room lighter. She knew he’d never admit it, but the color did make him wake up a little happier in the morning. She laced her fingers with his as they began to wander the furniture. There were so many to choose from, but Rachel knew that when she found the right set, they both would feel better. And then she saw it. It was a white and light wood bedroom set. It was a bit modern, but she liked how it would work. “Noah, this is it! We can refinish the rocker to match the wood color.” She looked at the price tag and grimaced a bit. “Well. I guess it’s a good thing that we have 28 weeks left to get ready.” Pinching the bridge of her nose, she let out a small sigh. “Okay, I think today we can get the changing table, since it’s the cheapest thing in this bedroom group. Then we’ll just budget things out so that we can get a new item each month.”

He was expecting a lot of that in the upcoming months, everything being his fault since they were his children and he was the one that got her pregnant. And he was okay with that, surprisingly. He knew most guys wouldn’t be, but it was just the fact that they were his kids that made everything okay. It made everything more real in a way. He rolled his eyes at her, shaking his head slightly, “As soon as we’re done, promise.” He nodded, “I know, I can’t forget the time I came home from the gym and my room was green. Not that I’m complaining, since it is my favorite color.” It was, always has been. For a while it was a toss up between blue, the old color of his room, and green. But green always managed to have the upper hand, and it probably had something to do with the fact Rachel told him it was a color that fit him when they started dating. Yeah, that definitely had something to do with it. And he was hoping that they would be able to find something soon, and it was like she was reading his mind because she immediately went over to a set of white furniture that really was perfect. He watched her face fall a bit and he knew why, the price. He didn’t say anything though, just grabbed her hand and walked with her to where the changing tables were. As they were looking he remembered something, leaning over to whisper in her ear, “I’ll be right back.” He disappeared down the aisle and towards the area where the furniture set was, forgetting about the money he set aside from his leftover pool cleaning money that was for recreational stuff. He figures this was better use than anything, he was getting her that bedroom set.
