Tiny Little Feet || Puckleberry

Rachel quickly took Noah’s hand as they walked out the door. Already, it felt better being in her own clothes, not that it was bad being in his. She actually enjoyed wearing his clothes. It’s just that, she was swimming in his stuff and with them going back out, it was easier if she wore her own stuff. She let out a squeal as he picked her up, setting her into the truck. She would never get used to being spoiled like this by him. As soon as his arm was up, she was curled into his side. Something so simple that they did all the time felt so right. She laid her head on his shoulder as he drove into town, finding herself feeling worn from the day. “I think a nap is in order when we get home. I’m exhausted.” She stretched a little, feeling him squeeze her a little. “I have an idea for the nursery. Turquoise walls, white furniture and cribs, and then white and yellow bedding. It would make it more gender neutral and then that way, it will fit either sex by time we find that out.” She could actually envision how the room would look. “Why don’t we check out that vintage store first. If we could find some of the stuff there, it would be cheaper and we can make any repairs or painting as needed.” It would also add charm to the nursery, something she knew would make it even more adorable.

When he pulled into a spot, she pulled her jacket back on, fixing her hat and scarf. “So, when I went shopping with Brittany, I found out that maternity clothing, not so bad. And I can actually just wear normal clothing as long as it fits right and looks right.” She was actually pretty happy with that fact. She just wanted one normal thing in her life. “I think I am going to start up those private lessons I used to give again. We’ll need money coming in to take care of the twins and I don’t want us to rely on our parents for it. I mean, we’ll be living on a ranch outside of Dallas come summer that we don’t have to pay to live in. I think it’s a good idea. What do you think?” She grabbed his hand as they walked into the store, looking around. It was actually a quaint little store and Rachel knew they would find something in here. They began to wander a bit, nothing really catching their eyes. It wasn’t until they got to the back of the store when she saw it- the rocking chair. “Noah, look!” She walked over to it and sat down in it, rocking slowly. “My Nana had one of these. Daddy said that it always put me to sleep right away when she rocked me in it.” She looked at the wood, seeing some of the color fading. “We could refinish this, right?” She looked up at him, seeing him just staring at her in awe. She bit her lip, hiding her grin a bit. “It’s perfect.”

He chuckled a bit, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, “We can definitely take a nap when we get home. And we’ve got months to do this, so if you get tired and want to go home, we can. We still have time to get the room together.” He wanted her to know that she didn’t have to do this, they had a long time until the babies were born. And he couldn’t wait, but he didn’t want her stressing out over something they had time to discuss. “I think that’s a good place to start,” He made a turn that would lead them to the little place Rachel was talking about, pulling into the parking lot a few moments later and getting out. Before she had the chance to even open her door, he was on her side and helping her get out so she wouldn’t have to exert too much energy. He locked his truck as they walked towards the entrance, holding the door open for her as they stepped inside. Honestly, this was all a little overwhelming considering he had no idea where to even start. So he was really happy that Rachel had some sort of plan going, “That sounds awesome, baby.” And he can’t say no to her, that’s a given. But he liked her idea actually, he always more of a blue/green person than anything so that was the perfect choice for the room. And she was also right in the fact it wasn’t gender specific, it could work for girls or boys. They walked hand-in-hand through the store, his eyes trailing over anything they walked by. He still wasn’t sure what they were looking for specifically but he figures he’d recognize it if he saw it, apparently Rachel beat him to it. He looked at her like she was crazy, because she was but he loved her for it. He smiled in the end, walking over to her and nodding, “It’s perfect. And I definitely fix it up a bit so it’ll look brand new.” Now that they found something, he was actually excited. He had a feeling he might enjoy this.
