“I want two girls, if I were to be honest. We both have such a strong gut feeling about a girl since the beginning. Neither of us felt a gut feeling for a boy and now that there’s two, I still don’t feel it.” She instantly tucked into his side when he held his arm out for her to get under. It always made her feel better when he did that. “I know I am. I just… I worry, a lot. I plan on dropping everything tomorrow, including glee.” She hated that she was going to do that, but she had to. Their babies were more important. She was going to do whatever she could to keep them safe. She had a fear that Noah didn’t know about and it was what would happen if she was attacked and someone tried to kill the babies. She couldn’t find anything on the literature she had about babies becoming werewolves and attacking things out of the womb, and maybe it was a crazy dream she had (apparently weird dreams were a symptom) but it felt like it could happen. “My babies mean more to me right now than anything else. I have to keep them alive and safe.” She could feel his fingers trail up and down her sides and she let out a small sigh closing her eyes for a moment. She counted how far along she was in her head and let out a small giggle. “I was wrong. Only four more weeks. I’m 14 weeks tomorrow according to my countdown.” That certainly made it seem like time would go by faster that way.
They pulled into the driveway and saw Mrs. Puckerman getting out as well. “Ava!” Rachel beamed and walked up to her surrogate mother, handing her the DVD. “How was she?” Rachel smiled, deciding to let the woman be surprised. “Watch it and see.” She squeezed her hand before running inside to change. Noah remained outside, talking to his mother. She went upstairs, changing into her only pair of yoga pants that still fit and a henley. All the sudden, she heard a scream and ran down the stairs, seeing Noah frozen solid with his mother clinging onto him as the DVD of the sonogram was on the screen. She tried hard not to laugh at his horrified expression on his face, but then his mother spotted her and she was the one stuck in a hug. “You are giving me two grandbabies!” Rachel looked at Noah for help, really unsure what to say to that. “Yes, I am. Um, Ava… your perfume.” His mother suddenly let go and Rachel swallowed the bile that was building up in her mouth. She grabbed a ginger ale from the fridge, looking at Noah. “Ready to go?”
For some reason, he just knew that Rachel was right when she said they were having two girls. He wasn’t sure what it was that made him so sure she was right, maybe it was the fact he trusts her and she’s proven herself on more than one occasion for being a little psychic, but for now they were having two girls. “No matter what, I’ll still love them.” It was true, they could have anything and he would be happy. As long as everything went smoothly and okay, he would be happy forever. Seriously. He pressed a kiss to her temple, sighing, knowing how hard it was for Rachel to literally give up everything for the sake of their babies. Part of him wishes that she didn’t have to sacrifice so much for this, for them. But she had to, and he was going to make sacrifices to. This wasn’t a one-sided thing, he was going to make sure of it. “No matter you do, Rach, I’m not going anywhere. I’ve got your back for anything,” He squeezed her against him a bit, letting his fingers trail up and down her sides absentmindedly. “Like I said, it doesn’t change anything. I get it. ‘Cause I plan on doing the same, anything. Literally.” And it was starting with the puck heads and the swim team. He chuckled, “Thank god, even though it’s just two weeks, it feels a hell of a lot closer already.” He just wants to know what they’re having so they could seriously get ready for it.
He pulled into the driveway, but stayed in the truck while Rachel went inside after talking to his mom. He had a feeling she was gonna come to him or he was gonna go to her, so he figured he might as well make the first move. And as soon as the word twins left his mouth and the video was playing on the screen, she launched herself at him. The woman was nuts, seriously. He didn’t even get a chance to finish before she was crying against his shirt and holding him like he was her life line. “Ma,” He groaned, wrapping his arms around her to hug her and hopefully get her to let go of him. He was thankful when Rachel walked downstairs, finally able to breathe again. But unfortunately, Rachel was now the one that was being hugged. He groaned again, “Ma, we have to go now.” He said, relieved when his mother finally released her. He rolled his eyes as she kissed his cheek before exiting the room, waiting for Rachel. “Ready,” He said, reaching for her hand as they both walked out of the door and to his truck again. Like he did last time, he scooped her up easily and put her in the front seat. He closed the door and headed to his own side, getting in and starting in reverse. He opened his arm for her, just like he did last time and she filled the space just like she always does. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head as he drove, the smile still present on his face from before.
It was incredible that all of this was happening, seriously. Sometimes he just has to stop and make sure this was really...
